Volkswagen 展示沒有辦法腳踏的 Bik.e 電動腳踏車

最近，堆四輪的公司都爭著發表兩輪的電動車。繼 Lexus 之後，Volkswagen 也展示自家的 Bik.e 電動 腳踏「自行」概念車。和 Lexus 自豪的 Hybrid 混合動力不同，VW 的 Bik.e 採用純電力推動的方式，省去了鍊條、齒輪和腳踏板的空間。而這全新的設計讓折疊後的自行車能夠縮小到足以輕鬆放進後車廂的備胎空間裡。( 詳見跳轉後的影片 )

Bik.e 可使用家用插座，也可以直接使用車上的 DC 電源進行充電。原廠宣稱每充滿一次電可行進 20 公里，極速正巧也是每小時 20 公里。目前 VW 還在觀察是否有將它商業量產的可能性，如果真有那麼一天，希望不會限定買四輪才能加購這兩輪呀！

EA's 'NHL Slapshot' packs Gretzky-approved Wiimote hockey stick

Believe it or not, this isn't the first hockey stick accessory for the Wiimote -- the folks from CTA naturally have you covered there as well -- but it is the first to be bundled with a game, and garner the glowing recommendation of Wayne Gretzky himself. The game in question here is EA's forthcoming NHL Slapshot, which comes with the pint-sized hockey stick pictured above (just one, it seems) that holds both the Wiimote and nunchuck -- it also thankfully has a foam blade that should prevent any TV disasters. Just a gimmick, you say? Not according to Gretzky, who says that it's actually "very realistic" and "almost like playing in the NHL" -- yes, really. Interestingly, the game's creator also seems to have hinted at future versions for Natal and PlayStation Move, saying that the Wii version is "going to be a really good test." Look for it to be available on September 7th.

Wikipanion Plus for iPad

Wikipanion loads Wikipedia entries in a clean, easy-to-read format.

Considering the mobile web-browsing prowess of the iPad, apps that largely reinterpret existing websites must improve upon the original experience to warrant a download (or purchase). Wikipanion is luckily one of those apps -- much as it was on iPhone -- as the simple interface sorts through the Wikipedia database and presents entries in a very handy, easy-to-read format that skims out the filler. Most entries load very quickly and as intended on the web (occasional pages look a bit out of sorts), and when held in landscape orientation, Wikipanion even gives you a section listing, letting you quickly skip around each entry without excessive scrolling.

Just as Wikipedia itself is free of charge, so is the standard version of this third-party app, and it comes with most of the features of the premium Plus version. Deciding whether or not to spend $4.99 on Wikipanion Plus depends largely on your need for offline browsing, as the premium app lets you both queue up entries and save them for when you're lacking wireless service. Our recommendation: start with the free app, which itself speeds up and improves the Wikipedia browsing experience, and then see if the extra features are worth dropping a Lincoln on.

Toshiba Dual Screen PC Folds Like a Book

Toshiba has announced a hybrid PC that’s not really a notebook but not exactly a tablet either.

Toshiba’s Libretto W100 has two 7-inch multi-touch displays, an Intel Pentium 1.2 GHz processor, a 62 GB solid state drive, a 1-megapixel camera and 2 GB of memory. It runs Windows 7 and weighs about 1.8 lbs — just a tad more than the Apple iPad’s 1.6 lbs.

The device is an “ultra-mobile concept PC,” says Toshiba, though it comes with a price tag of $1,100. That’s a lot of dough to spend for a concept.

Perhaps most interesting: Toshiba is promising to deliver e-reader software that will make the Libretto into an e-book reader, capable of showing full two-page spreads with one page on the left and one on the right — much like those paper books you might still have lying around.

Toshiba’s bet on a hybrid device comes at an unusual time, since the idea has so far failed to catch on with consumers. In March, Entourage released the eDGE, a quirky device with a 10-inch LCD screen on the right and a slightly smaller E Ink display on the left. The $500 machine didn’t bring out the best in either display. Earlier this month, California-based startup Kno promised a dual-screen tablet that would be designed for the optimal textbook reading experience. The Kno tablet is expected to launch later this year.

What the Libretto does have going for it is its extremely compact design and two gorgeous screens (1024 x 600 resolution on each one). The Libretto is among the smallest devices in its category. It measures 4.84 inches by 7.95 inches so you can slip it into a jacket pocket or a small purse.

The multitouch screens can work independently or together, so users can surf the Web on one screen while checking e-mail on the other, or view a web page across both screens. The lower screen can display a virtual keyboard (in any of several different layouts). There’s a single USB port. And the built-in accelerometer means the device automatically switches into portrait or landscape modes when rotated.

The Libretto W100 is expected to ship in August in Japan.

蘋果考慮大幅降低新機售價iPhone 4G

蘋果新一代智慧手機iPhone 4G將在6月7日亮相，外電報導，蘋果考慮大幅降低新機售價，到年底前iPhone 4G出貨量累計達2,400萬支，單季出貨能量比目前多出25%到50%，供應鏈廠商下半年業績熱滾滾，鴻海集團是最大受惠者。
外電報導，蘋果將在下月全球開發商大會推出iPhone 4G，由鴻海集團旗下富士康自下月起出貨2,400萬支，富士康6月出貨450萬支，下半年單季出貨量超過1,000萬支，甚至挑戰1,200萬支，最大 受惠者除了組裝廠鴻海之外，還有電池供應商新普、順達等，新一代產品的電池模組加大，以增強電池續航力，解決電池壽命不足問題。
此外，蘋果可能考慮大幅降低新iPhone售價，以獲得充分的銷售動能；市場也猜測，蘋果推出CDMA版本的iPhone 4G，以符合美國最大手機營運商Verizon的通訊規格。由於市場對iPhone 4G需求已取代3G版，英國網站Myfreeiphone旗下加盟商店更已開始接受預購訂單。
新一代iPhone 4G供應鏈出現新面孔，最受矚目的是鴻海家族的面板供應商—新奇美，首度成為觸控面板模組供應商，分食宸鴻、勝華的訂單。部分供應商如晶技、台虹則受惠日 圓升值，擴大供應比重，其他受惠者還有大立光、玉晶光、正崴、欣興等。
新一代iPhone採用搭載廣視角技術（FFS）的平面轉換（IPS）面板，FFS技術是由國內廠商元太授權給樂金顯示器（LGD），再出貨給蘋果。 FFS除可提供更寬廣的視角，在日光下的畫面也更為清晰。
供應鏈廠商指出，從目前訂單數量來看，到年底的訂單確實高達2,400萬支，但不同零件的出貨時程不同，每季預估數字不太一樣。
不過，供應商也指出，比起目前單季約800萬至900萬支的訂單數量，新一代iPhone外觀改變不大，單季若衝破1,000萬支、甚至挑戰1,200萬 支，相當於成長率挑戰五成。
新一代iPhone的外觀和前三代iPhone差異不大，但是將可支援最新的iPhone OS 4.0，具有多工處理能力，同時還在正面加裝攝影機，方便使用者進行視訊會議，背面的照相機鏡頭也加大、增加閃光燈；外部還有Micro-SIM 插槽、麥克風孔、調節音量的側邊按鈕及金屬外殼。

下一代iPhone材料成本可能達170美元

知名拆解公司UBM TechInsights 分析報告指出，下一帶的 Apple (蘋果) (AAPL-US) iPhone 內部材料成本可能界於 169美元至 175 美元之間，較目前 iPhone 3GS 156美元的成本提高許多。

分析報告提醒，此為推測數據，係由聲稱為下一代iPhone的網路照片和影視中推測出來的數據。這些影像看起來不像偽造的圖片，但迄今尚未獲得獨立 驗證其真實性。

蘋果並未發表iPhone計畫的相關評論，但市場普遍預期蘋果 6 月將會推出新產品。

此材料清單數據係依據目前和未來使用 16 G記憶體的手機估算而得，若為 64G記憶體的新一代iPhone，其材料成本可能高達 250 美元。

市場觀察者表示，搭載 Google (GOOG-US) Android作業系統的智慧型手機與現今的 iPhone競爭成功，也因此蘋果下一代手機可能會採用一些功能。UBM TechInsights 資深分析師 Jeffrey Brown 指出，在目前的環境中，蘋果可能被迫抬高成本才能公平競爭。

UBM TechInsights 隸屬於聯合企業媒體 (UBM)，UBM為《EE Times》出版商。

Brown與其同事估計，下一代iPhone內建A4處理器，成本 16%，約較目前 iPhone 3GS應用處理器的成本高出約 3美元。近來的網路照片顯示，所謂的下一代iPhone手機運用了一顆 A4晶片。

展示器升級要價約 9 美元，是大幅提高新一代iPhone材料成本的一大原因，照片顯示新一代iPhone搭載 3.5”螢幕，720 x 480像素。部分消息指出，蘋果可能會將下一代手機稱為 iPhone HD，因為此款手飢可支援 720p的影片。

此外，新功能還有 500 萬像素的自動對焦相機和錄影機，分別增加 4 美元和 2 美元的成本。

Carey 表示：「倘若螢幕的解析度估計錯誤，或外殼沒有像預測那樣時髦，你可能就能砍掉 20 美元左右，但坦白說，這估計成本大部分仍要看蘋果花在 NAND快閃記憶體上的成本。」

Carey 表示，快閃記憶體的價格非常波動，也很難確切推測出蘋果以多少產量協議出怎樣的價格。他估計下一代iPhone外殼混合利用高品質的金屬和陶瓷，其成本約 20美元，而螢幕成本約 25美元。
