CP+ 2014: Fujifilm shows new 50mm teleconverter for X100S
We're at the CP+ show in Japan, where Fujifilm is showing a new teleconverter for the X100S. Details are scarce but unofficially we understand that the new converter will be available later in spring, for around $300.

Attached in the same way as the existing WCL-X100, by screwing directly onto the front of the lens, the new TCL-X100 increases the X100S's effective focal length to 50mm without effecting the minimum aperture.

Here's the new converter alongside the X100S, showing the relative size. The TCL-X100 is a pretty big lump of glass, but it isn't as heavy as it looks and the camera still feels nicely balanced when it's screwed in.

Here's the business end of the TCL-X100S, attached to the front of an X100S. Unlike the wideangle converter WCL-X100, the 50mm teleconverter has a conventional 67mm filter ring.

As you can see, with the teleconverter attached X100/S users will sacrifice a degree of portability and it's certainly going to be harder to stay inconspicuous when using a camera with this adapter mounted. That said, we suspect that a lot of X100/S users will be excited to add a 50mm to their 'lens collection'.
