There are some suggestions around that a couple of new 4K display panels from AUO could form the basis of an Apple Thunderbolt 2 Display.
The speculation has been prompted by a Reddit post noting that these are the first Embedded DisplayPort 4K screens, so would work out of the box via Thunderbolt 2. This much is true, but AUO doesn't have a reputation as top-tier manufacturer, and as I argued last month, it would be odd for Apple not to have revealed its plans for a 4K display at the time the company announced the Mac Pro.
So while the idea is not impossible, put us firmly in the skeptical camp.
