It's been six weeks since developers have seen an update to the OS X Mavericks, but this morning Apple unleashed the seventh update to them to tinker with. While the update doesn't contain any new features of note, it did include eight beautiful new wallpapers that you can enjoy for yourself.
Cult of Mac has a good gallery of the eight wallpapers along with DropBox links for downloading the images, but as of the time of writing, the links are down owing to the surge in traffic the wallpapers have generated. Failing that, you can also download them from 9to5 Mac.
One of the commenters at 9to5 Mac, Lewis Edwards, noted that the file sizes clock in at a staggering 5120 x 2880 pixels, leading him to speculate that the sizes could mean a Retina Display iMac is on the way. Doubtful, but worth a thought!
OS X Mavericks should be released sometime this fall, and the release of the wallpapers suggests that it's almost ready for launch. The new OS includes many improvements over previous versions, such as a tabbed Finder, enhanced dual monitor capabilities, Safari tweaks, and Maps app for Mac OS X.
