First Full-Length Trailer for Ashton Kutcher's Steve Jobs Biopic Goes Live

The first full-length trailer for Ashton Kutcher's full-length biopic of Steve Jobs hit YouTube today, revealing key moments from Jobs' early life that even the most casual Apple fan may be familiar with. That, and it serves as a reminder that the entire movie seems based around the idea that bearded Kutcher is a dead ringer for young Jobs.

Right now, it doesn't look likely that "jOBS" will match the critical success of The Social Network, which depicted Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's similar rise to fame. Reviews for Kutcher's flick, due out on August 16, were mixed earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, with criticisms running the gamut from poor casting to a supporting cast of "cardboard cutouts." (Indeed, few criticisms were directed at Kutcher's performance, which was praiseworthy by almost all accounts.)

Like The Social Network, it also received criticisms from people who'd actually lived through the events, most notably Steve "Woz" Wozniak. In a Gizmodo comment, Woz wrote, "Not close...we never had such interaction and roles...I'm not even sure what it's getting at...personalities are very wrong although mine is closer...don't forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn't around and didn't attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future."

Of course, that may be why the trailer announces that it's merely "inspired" by true events.
