Jawbone’s Jambox Gets Groovy Facelift

Jawbone has already gotten a lot of mileage out of its little Jambox. The portable Bluetooth speaker lit up an otherwise boring product category and has been a huge and oft-imitated hit. (Even by Jawbone itself.) So after first offering a cute but limited line of color choices, followed by a few limited-edition models, the company is hoping to get even more distance out of a new customizable range that lets people pick their own color combinations.

Today the company launched the Jambox Remix, where customers can mix and match various colored grills and caps (the top and bottom of the little cabinets). Even with the custom tweaks, the price stays at $200. For the next week, the site is open only to Klout users and other select customers. It goes fully live on Aug. 28.

It's a nice little update to the popular line, but it also could have used some of the features found in Big Jambox — namely those dedicated hardware buttons that let you skip tracks.
