Apple needs more Chinese retail stores and corrupt app updates hit App Store

Apple makes a lot of money on the Chinese market. The company has six official retail stores within the country, but intended to have many more than that by 2012. Apple had in the past expected 25 retail locations inside China by this year. The lack of retail stores means long lines at official stores and those long lines push more people to the gray market.

The big part of the reason for the delay in opening new retail stores within China is that Apple is notoriously picky it comes to choosing the right locations. Chinese officials say that two more retail stores are coming to China. Reports have been coming in that some app updates pushed out for Mac and iOS apps are causing device crashes.

One developer says that shortly after an update to an app was published on the App Store e-mail started coming in fact the app was now crashing after the update. This is despite the fact that the developer says Apple stable with the update when submitted to Apple. The culprit was later discovered to be a corrupt update being pushed out by the App Store.
