2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Re-Moose Tested, Passed

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Re-Moose Tested, Passed

Reviving an issue many would have considered dead, Chrysler put out a press release today publicizing a new moose test that performed without issue.

A bitter exchange between the automaker and Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld spewed across the internet for the better part of a week starting July 9 after the rag wrote an article suggesting that the SUV was a potentially fatal rollover hazard. Arguments about the test's validity went back and forth as the magazine defended itself against Chrysler and vice versa. By week's end, Consumer Reports weighed in, saying the 2011 model it had tested exhibited similar albeit less severe symptoms which were reported to Chrysler and fixed.

Details of a new test are the subject behind Chrysler's latest press release. It seems German magazine Auto Motor und Sport conducted the same test and failed to find fault with the Jeep. In the statement, Chrysler says the publication performed the test under maximum passenger capacity with a full load.

It's still difficult to say if the conditions were actually the same between the two magazines, but the fact that Chrysler didn't perform the test does lend it a little more credibility. Unfortunately, the test doesn't appear to have been performed on camera, something that ultimately lent a lot of credence to the Teknikens Varld stories.
