Highway Pro Turns Cigarette Lighter Into USB Charger
Just Mobile's Highway Pro should really come as standard in every car. It's a small cylindrical widget which plugs in the cigarette lighter socket (are they still called cigarette lighter sockets?) and turns it into a pair of USB charging slots.
Regular readers will already know that I think cars should be stripped of all unnecessary gadgets. Drivers should be concentrating on the road, not ordering pizza via SMS or sipping a coffee or changing the radio or even listening to the radio.
But that will never happen (if you ever need to murder someone, using a car seems like the best way to away with it), so in the meantime, you might as well use the electricity being generated by your petroleum-burning death-wagon to charge your gadgets. And the Highway Pro might just be the most simple and stylish way to do that.
It comes with a fuse to protect against power surges, and the USB ports each provide different outputs: one amp for regular phones and 2.1 amps for fast-charging your iPad.
The Highway Pro costs $40, and the non-Pro version (with 2 regular USB ports) is $35. The Pro ships with a cable for Apple iDevices.
