It's rare that people can pull their faces away from Facebook. Since so many technologies enable us to access it at all times, people are spending more and more times checking up on their friends, updating their profiles, and digesting all the latest information available on the Live Feed — regardless of any other things they need to do in order to be productive members of society. If you are one of those that, whether you like it or not, has fallen addict to the wonders of Facebook, then you might as well make sure your mobile endeavors with it are up to par. Since Facebook's own application isn't the only one out there that can link you to it, it's worth checking into the two top competitors as well:
Facebook: Just in case you're not already familiar with the flagship Facebook app, I thought it was worth introducing you to, so you have a point of comparison for the competitors. Facebook is a no frills connection to connecting with Facebook. In addition to traditional Facebook features, you can sort the live feed according to what or whom you want to see and easily check in with your mobile decide. The status has limited options for updating, although you can easily upload and attach photos. As I said — simple, slightly boring interface, but it gives you what you want, when you want it, and it operates as smoothly as the site. Furthermore, as opposed to the opposition, Facebook is free.
Facely HD: Though this app is not free (today it is on sale for $2.99), it does come with some added bonuses. The first thing you will notice is that Facely HD allows you to customize the themes of the app, so you don't have to view the same boring blue if you don't want to. Furthermore, the aesthetic layout of the app is much more comprehensive and appealing (to me, at least), and instead of having to click through buttons to access various features (like you do in the Facebook app), everything you need or want is simply on one screen, including the ability to access Chat and Places. Furthermore, when you access your profile, it appears as it does on the web — not like a simplified version of it (as with the Facebook app). While it may operate a little more slowly than the others, I liked Facely HD the best because it still maintained a necessary simplicity but with some added and intriguing bonuses. In my mind, Facebook's only leg up was in the ability to sort the Live Feed.
iSocialize: If the other two still don't seem to have enough going on, the iSocialize is your kind of app. As it has about 16 applications worth of activities all rolled into one, iSocialize lets you link to both your Facebook and Twitter…and then some (and for the limited-time price of $0.99!). For all intensive purposes, I'm just going to review the Facebook component, but if you're intrigue is piqued, then the other elements are worth looking into too. Visually, the Facebook feature is more visually similar to Facely's, which I like, as it more or less keeps everything in one place. However, unlike the other two apps, you can't chat, and the only way to upload photos is through the Photo component of iSocialize (requiring you to go into a different screen). The profile view is nostalgic of Facebook a few versions ago, so if you're not a fan of the new Facebook profile, then you will certainly enjoy using iSocialize. Also, you can use anything from the other components of iSocialize, like its Quote's feature, to update your Facebook, and you can seamlessly switch between Twitter and Facebook feeds. If you want to consolidate a lot of your social networking activity into one place, then iSocialize is certainly a worthwhile investment, especially since it is quite the smooth operator despite everything it has going on, but if you're just looking for a simple, strictly Facebook app, then iSocialize may not be for you.
As you can see, these apps cover a range of visual and functional tastes and desires. So now that you have the information in your hands, how will you choose to Facebook on-the-go?
