I recently tested the 2011 Cadillac SRX that was equipped with the soon-to-be-leaving 2.8-liter turbo V-6 that produced 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Power was adequate, but it didn't seem to make enough power until you got way up there in the rev range. The other engine choice offered was the less-then-stellar 3.0-liter V6 that makes 265 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque. Now it seems that GM is doing everyone a favor and ditching that engine as well in favor of a variant of the same direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 that is found in the Cadillac CTS line. This engine, whether in the Cadillac CTS or the Camaro, makes great power and would be a perfect fit for the heavy (4387 lb.) SRX. There is speculation that the new engine will get a bump in horsepower from the standard 304 and also gain an edge in fuel economy. This sounds like a total win/win for all those considering a 2012 Cadillac SRX.
