Last week at the L.A. Autoshow I was able to see the new Audi Quattro concept up close and personal. It was small and squat just like the 1985 original and in fact, takes on a few of its original design queues. A louvered hood, large rear D-pillars and stubby rear end are just a few elements that have been integrated into the new design. Standing there looking at Audi's newest hot rod, I notice that the car had a massive crowd around it. Questions were being asked to Audi reps about power output, price and if the car would actually go into production.
What we know so far is that Audi may produce the new Quattro Coupe, but only in limited numbers. The production car would be built in VW's ItalDesign facility in Milan, Italy. As for some specs on the new Quattro, how about a sub 3,000 pound ride that utilizes liberal amounts of aluminum and carbon fiber, with a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder making around 350 hp? To us that sounds pretty damn good. Pricing could be as high as the mid-$130′s but as of yet nothing is set in stone.
