LA Preview: Honda to unveil new EV concept and plug-in hybrid platform

Ah, it's time again for some pre-auto show teaser press releases. Today's announcement comes courtesy of Honda, which says it will show off an all-new electric vehicle concept and a new plug-in hybrid platform at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of November. This platform will showcase "the next-generation of Honda hybrid technology," so anyone who isn't a fan of the company's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system but likes Honda vehicles might want to pay special attention. The concept and the new platform could show us where Honda is taking its green car line, which currently includes vehicles like the Insight hybrid, the not-for-U.S. Jazz (Fit) hybrid and the CR-Z (pictured).

The press conference will also mark the first time that Honda's global Honda CEO, Takanobu Ito, will introduce a worldwide vehicle debut at the LA show. It will be interesting to see how his comments on the plug-in hybrid electric platform differ from that of his predecessor, Takeo "plug-in hybrids are unnecessary" Fukui. We'll know more when the event happens on November 17, but for now, you can check out the official release after the jump.
