Amidst persistent rumors that Apple plans to introduce a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in August followed by a larger 5.5-inch model the following month comes word that retail employees are being restricted from taking vacations in September.

iFun.de (via MacRumors) today reported that Apple retail employees in Germany are apparently being restricted from taking vacation days during the month of September, typically a telltale sign that new products are expected.

The report would seem to contradict recent rumors that Apple may take a two-pronged approach to releasing this year's so-called iPhone 6, with a 4.7-inch model tipped for launch in August, with the larger 5.5-inch edition arriving in September. However, conflicting reports suggest the biggest iPhone to date could be delayed until the end of the year or even early 2015 due to manufacturing problems.

Although the vacation blackouts appear to be exclusive to Apple's German retail stores for now, Cupertino has frequently enacted such policies worldwide around big product launches, such as last year's September 15-28 freeze when the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c first went on sale.

The same report also offered an update on Apple's latest German retail store in Hanover, which is expected to open for business this fall after being delayed for "multiple structural problems and mold." The Hanover location will be Apple's 14th retail store in Germany.
