Analyst: By 2015, Apple Products Will Account for 11% of Global Business Spending

Remember those days when finding an Apple computer in a business or corporate setting as a task akin to hunting for the Holy Grail? Those days aren't completely behind us, but as new data and projections from Forrester Research show (via The Wall Street Journal), Apple's made considerably wider strides into the today's offices, and it's not all just because of the iPhone.

According to Forrester, by 2015 business, corporate, and government expenditures on Apple products will rise to an 11 percent share of the marketplace by 2015. That projection seems to be in line with the earlier data obtained by Forrester, which shows business expenditures on Apple products jumped from a mere 1 percent share in 2009 to 8 percent back in 2012. Slow and steady wins the race, it seems.

But perhaps the most notable thing about this claim is that the expenses included in the study don't include the iPhone, as the firm excluded it in its analysis (However, the study does appear to include the iPad. That's not to say that the iPhone isn't important to the study, however, as Chip Pearson, the chief of JAMF Software, LLC, notes that "People start with the iPhone." In the words of the WSJ, "JAMF says its software manages five times as many as Apple phones, tablets, and computers as three years ago."

And Apple's certainly taking notice. As Cult of Mac notes, Apple's most recent iPad campaign placed special emphasis on how the device could be used in various corporate environments while simultaneously targeting the general consumer. The connection has also grown deeper during Tim Cook's tenure as CEO, as he's emphasized keeping data safe and fostered new ways to pair iDevices with corporate e-mail systems.
